WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW. . .
Thanks, Dawn, for organizing TWO Saturdays of Rotary bell-ringing for the Salvation Army. See more photos on the website: www.rotaryclubofenglewood.org.
MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT ED:

Hey Englewood Rotarians,

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday and hope everyone is out buying homes, cars and contributing to the busiest shopping week of the year.

Lots of activities going on with current, recent and upcoming club projects. Thanks to everyone who has and is participating.

Dawn Shepherd is in the midst of her Salvation Army holiday bell ringing crusade.  Dawn, Frank, Spence, Mike and others were busy at King Soopers on Belleview and Yosemite Nov. 24, and another crew is lined up for Dec. 1.

Vee and Glory are ready for revelers to sign up for the holiday party at The Guild on Dec. 14.  RSVP to Glory 303-796-8111. A great menu is planned as well as considerable red and white wine left over from the wine-tasting fundraiser. Address is 3435 S. Inca St., Suite C, Englewood 80110.

And don’t forget the monthly Happy Hour this Wed., Nov. 28, at Bar Louie, 8000 E. Belleview Ave. (just east of I-25). We have 15 sign-ups so far. Email Patty if you want to add your name to the list: paburnett@aol.com.

Now back to club project business:  Frank and Vee ask that everyone available participate in the Village for Early Childhood Education Program coming up. Shopping and gift wrapping at Walmart start at 7:30 AM Nov. 27 and the all-out uncut unedited party is at the Buck Center on Dec. 7. Please plan to be there at 11:00 to fully enjoy the delightfulness of the preschoolers receiving the Christmas packages from Santa Claus and Rotary.

The military project was pulled off with unprecedented success and chaos in Colorado Springs on Nov. 17. Tailored family gifts and groceries were delivered to 65 needy military families and over 200 military members and family children with the help of members of four Rotary clubs, outside volunteers, 10-15 military First Sergeants from three Air Force bases, and the American Legion Post 209 in the Springs.  WHEW!!  Josh and Ed continue to tie up loose ends and are almost finished.

Check out more photos and a story on our website: www.rotaryclubofenglewood.org.

Here's the organized chaos of First Sergeants sorting food for each of our 65 military families. One table was for Schriever AFB, another for Peterson, and one for the Air Force Academy. Then picture 65 turkeys and 65 15-pound bags of potatoes. Whew! We were grateful for the muscle-power these men and women brought us.
The guys on trouble-shooting duty at the gift and food distribution site, a VFW post in Colorado Springs. Gary, Ed, Mike.
