Therapy Dogs at Craig Hospital

Ron Horn is a retired teacher, principal, educational consultant, area superintendent, and administrative law judge. . He currently works as a Dog Show Judge for the American Kennel Club. More than thirty years ago, he was asked to have his Newfoundland Dog join the Therapy Dog program at Englewood's Craig Hospital. As a result of this invitation he has spent nearly every Monday night at the Hospital with his Newfoundlands. His Newfoundland, 110-pound Nelson, was the first dog to serve as a member of the Canine Airport Therapy Squad (CATS) at Denver International Airport. Ron serves as a Tester/Observer for the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. In this role he tests and evaluates potential therapy dog applicants. He and his Newfoundlands have been awarded the Seven News Everyday Hero Award on two occasions for their work at Craig Hospital.
