Scholarships worth $45,000!
What a great day for us! We gave $45,000 in college and trade school scholarships to nine amazing students from Englewood High School and Colorado's Finest High School of Choice.
Scholarships are our major contribution to the community, made possible by our Englewood Rotary Foundation. We have benefited from several large donations to the foundation in recent years, including a bequest in the memory of Beau DeVane Veyette. This enabled us to make the largest award ever in a single year.
Rotarian Josh Staller is the president of the foundation. He presided over a recognition luncheon recently for scholars and their families. The scholarship committee included Josh, Dawn Shepherd, Vee Sabel, Bruce Spear, Elizabeth Wilhelm and Jeff Rainwater. Thanks, Rotarians!
The scholars are: From Colorado's Finest: Destini Boyle and Christina Wiggins. From Englewood High:Serenity Gambrell, Elliot McConnell, Natalia Santana-Velazquez, Taleah Shockey, Javier Tobias, Naomi Vazquez and Daniel Witke.
