Hey Englewood Rotarians,
It’s been a busy week doing final planning for upcoming events.
Paula Shafer has been working hard getting funding together for her AMS After School Enrichment Reading Program and preparing her application for a DDF matching grant.
We are pleased to report her grant application is ready to submit and may have already been sent on to District for review. Thanks for a super effort on her part. This is the third grant project for our small club this year and another sign of the strength of our club.
Frank, Vee and team have completed lining up volunteers to help finalize their Littleton Head Start holiday program. Walmart shopping for that event is Tuesday, Nov. 27 and the party at Buck Center is set for Dec. 7. We are hoping to have a big turnout for the Buck Center party as we did last year. It is one big happy occasion for the kids.
Planning for the Military and Veterans Appreciation and Support Program is essentially complete with only implementation left. The program should bring much happiness to 64 needy military families from three Air Force bases in Colorado Springs.
Special thanks to 30-35 Rotary shoppers from four clubs who purchased tailored gift packages for each family and 10-15 Costco grocery shoppers who will be purchasing groceries from stores in Denver and Colorado Springs.
Implementation is Friday-Saturday, Nov. 16-17 with Denver Costco shopping starting at 11 AM Nov. 16 at the Park Meadows store. Thanks to all volunteers, especially to Bob Burdick and Gary Sears who have arranged a truck to help transport purchases.
Glory and Vee have made arrangements for our Holiday Party at The Guild in downtown Englewood on Friday, Dec. 14, 6-9 PM. Address is 3435 S. Inca St., Suite C, Englewood 80110. Planning this is no small effort. Thanks for taking charge of this. Should be a fun gathering with good food, nice wine and great company.
We have added the “WOW Rotary Project Minute” to our regular meeting agenda. Last week Frank kicked it off with a summary of his Littleton Head Start Program. This week Dawn is set to give a description of our Bishop School Backpack Program that she and Vee conduct each year. We expect to rotate through all of our active programs to give all members better insights into the great projects supported by our club.

ROTARY EDUCATION
Did you know about Rotary
Community Corps?
A Rotary Community Corps is a group of people who share our commitment to changing the world through service.
Rotary Community Corps members plan and carry out projects in their communities and support local Rotary club projects but are not members of a Rotary club.
There are more than 8,500 corps in over 90 countries. Rotary Community Corps are active everywhere Rotary is present: in urban and rural areas, and in both developed and developing countries.
Englewood Rotary has a level of participation called Friends of Englewood Rotary that is very much like a Community Corps, but we have never fully developed it. Initially, we envisioned this level as a baby step toward membership. Something to think about. . .
