Hi, All,
I hope you are well and looking forward to Fall, starting this week!! I hope you will be able to be able to attend our weekly meeting of September 23rd on Zoom.
Last week, I believe we all enjoyed Reeves Brown’s thorough and interesting review of the upcoming ballot issue regarding the Gallagher Amendment, which will be on the ballot for this year’s election. While the issue is very confusing, I thought Reeves did a very good job of outlining the pros and cons of the issue.
This week, we will have Gary Reece, president of the Cancer League of Colorado, who will give us a presentation about their very important work for the Denver/Englewood community. It is important to note that many of our members are active with the Cancer League and will comment on the great work that this organization does for our community.
Next week, on September 30, Josh and Jane Staller will be hosting a get-together for our members, and I know that we all very much appreciate Josh and Jane opening their home to us, so can regain some person to person contact with members of our Club. I look forward to seeing you there!
Following Mr. Reece’s presentation and our Question and Answer time this week, we will have a Board meeting, in which all members are invited to attend. Topics for the Board meeting include a summary of our finances by our Treasurer, Don Schneider, a brief summary of our Club Survey by Susan VanDyke, a discussion about the upcoming Day of Service on October 3 by the Be A Tool neighbor program, a celebration date for for Frank Sargent’s 50 years of Rotary Service, activities related to the passing of Randy Penn, and many other important items of interest affecting our Club.
As this will be my last time to conduct the meeting, as Co-President Susan VanDyke will take over in October, I would like to say that despite all of the changes and discomfort that our Club has undergone over the last many months because of the COVID-19 pandemic and required Zoom meetings, I am very proud of how so many of members have “stepped to the plate,” and have kept the spirit and activities of our Club alive and well. Thank you all for what you have done over the last several months. The future of our Club looks very bright and inviting!!
Finally, I would like to let you know that Joe Anderson, with the Be a Tool Neighbor, has invited our members to join with the program for a Day of Service in Englewood on October 3. If you are interested in serving our community on this day, please go to: Oct. 3 Englewood Sign Up, or www.beatool.org to sign up for this day of service. I look forward to seeing you this Wednesday for another interesting program and Board meeting.
