WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW. . .
MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT GARY:

Hi Rotarians,

I wish you the best for the 4th of July and hope you have some interesting plans. I would like to thank Linda and Bruce Spear for hosting a very enjoyable “Happy Hour” on Zoom last week.

As you know, we do not have a Rotary meeting this week, but we do have  a very interesting lineup of programs for the month of July. In this regard, I hope you can all join us on Zoom and perhaps bring in a friend or colleague who may have an interest in these programs and joining our “Service Above Self” Rotary Club.

For a few of our members who haven’t been able to join us during the last two months, I encourage you to enjoy the programs and support our Englewood Club.

Next week on July 8, our Honorary Member Larry Matten will be talking about his recent travel adventures, which will be both enjoyable and informative.

On July 15, Peter Jeschofnig has arranged for Brittney “Bert” Woodrum, who is seeking a Rotary Peace Fellowship, to speak to our Club on the “Shelter in Place” initiative.

Brittany plans to climb all 58 of Colorado's fourteeners with a ShelterBox on her back! Her presentation  will be very interesting  and will be a program you do not want to miss!

She hopes to raise $1,400 for each fourteener she climbs, or $81,200 total for ShelterBoxes, which are part of a Rotary program to help people who lose their homes mostly to natural disasters. The boxes contain emergency supplies and essential tools.

For the next week, on July 22, our speaker will be Dan Poremba, Chief Redevelopment Officer for the City of Englewood, who will be speaking to us about the many new redevelopment initiatives in Englewood, including the Englewood City Center.

I hope you will be able to join us for this interesting and informative mix of speakers and that you could bring a colleague or friend who is interested in our Club.

Also, as we plan for the upcoming Rotary year, please give some thought to ways that our Club can support local or regional service activities that our Club could be involved in.

Have a nice 4th of July, and I look forward to seeing you on July 8, on Zoom.     -- Gary
