MESSAGE FROM
PREZ PATTY
Remember how I said I wanted us to focus on two areas this year? All things Rotary and all things Englewood.
I think we've been doing that in our programs especially.
This week I want to do a little of each. Oct. 24 is World Polio Day. I'd like us, as group of members, to make a contribution to Rotary's fight to end polio. Please consider bringing a check or some cash. Checks should be made to The Rotary Foundation with Polio Plus in the descriptor line. I'll ask Treasurer Don to get it to the foundation. If you can't come to the meeting this week, maybe you'll make an online contribution -- https://my.rotary.org/en/donate
Now, as for a focus on Englewood, our speaker will be Tami Slipher, who is the development director at Movement 5280. This is a nonprofit on Broadway that primarily serves at-risk youth who are homeless. It does have a Christian-faith orientation, but it is the humanitarian element that causes me to care.
This group may have some hands-on volunteer opportunities for those of us who can make a sandwich or cut up vegetables. Which is more our bailiwick that putting siding on a Habitat house!
Also a new feature for us this year is member travelogues. Tomorrow Susan will tell us about her recent trip. Here are some gorgeous photos.
We'll hear the details manana.
