WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW. . .
We do our best!
Where in the world. . . ? Well, it's France, near the villa in Provence that is the highlight of our live auction at the 2nd Annual Fall Harvest Wine-tasting, Sept. 21. Imagine: two weeks in a villa with a community pool, 20 minutes from the French Riviera, in the heart of Cotes de Provence wine region -- heaven!.
Message from President Ed:

Hey Englewood Rotarians,

Upcoming regular meeting this week is Wed.,  Aug 22.  Colorado State Bar presents on the subject of state courts of Colorado.

Mike and Kathryn Dow report that Raphael, the exchange student from Switzerland, is playing on the Cherry Creek Junior Varsity football team and plans to attend the Bronco-Kansas City Chiefs game on Oct. 1. He plans to attend an Englewood RC evening event since noon meetings are difficult to fit into his schedule.

Please bring one bottle of wine to the Aug 22 mtg to donate to the wine-tasting fund-raiser whether or not you plan to attend the event.

Also please bring all auction items along with descriptions & photos to the Aug 22 mtg as we are now preparing bid sheets.

Please sign up for food donations for this event to help maximize funds for our charity events (see Dawn Shepherd). Food not donated by members will have to be purchased. These are “LAST CALLS” since the next regular mtg will be Sept. 19, two days before the event.

See below for upcoming events.

Invite friends!

Rotarians, we have a very special fund-raiser, the 2nd Annual Fall Harvest Wine-tasting on Sept. 21. It is ESSENTIAL that we have a big crowd. We can't make this successful with members alone. We need 100 people who come, enjoy and buy our auction items.

Please put inviting friends at the top of your Rotary To Do Lists. Invite them as guests, invite them to sign up themselves, but invite, invite, invite. The only way people come to this event is by invitation from Rotary members. It's our job for the next month.

We need to raise money for our good deeds beginning Jan. 1. Let's do it!

ROTARY EDUCATION

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population.

Rotary's goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.

Englewood Rotary promotes literacy in many ways:

  • Our programs in Senegal,
  • Backpacks and school supplies for kids at Bishop School
  • Reading/mentoring kids at Bishop
  • Scholarships for Englewood graduates, now totalling more than $100,000
  • Honoring other Rotary clubs with an annual literacy achievement award
  • and more.
