MESSAGE FROM
PREZ PATTY
Two meetings left in 2021! In Rotary Years, though, we're just half-way. We've accomplished a lot, but there's more to do for our community.
This week I've asked Josh, the president of the Englewood Rotary Foundation, to fill the club in on the foundation's investments and contributions. It seems "some clubs," not us, don't do a very good job of keeping members informed. So, the district is encouraging all clubs to make sure you know how your gifts, and those of members past, are being invested, protected and spent.
Likewise, early next year I'll be asking Treasurer Don to make a presentation on our operating funds -- our day-to-day spending and accounting system.
Please remember that our board meetings, minutes and reports are open to all members. If you have a question, we will provide an answer.
Also this week we'll have a presentation by Bob Pence, who has written a book about his life in the FBI. He led the Denver unit.
Next week, we have two great presentations. 1) Kathleen Pierz will talk to us about Shelter Boxes, and the involvement of Colorado Rotary Clubs in getting needed supplies to refugees and disaster victims all over the world.
2) Our former assistant governor Ken Hope will present us an opportunity to join the Centennial Rotary Club in an Imagination Library project. I had heard about Imagination Library at the presidents' training last spring.
It's a way to put books into the homes of very young children, once a month, at no cost to the family. Ken's bringing the creator of this program, Dolly Parton, in a life-size cardboard cut-out. Ya don't want to miss Dolly!
I will poll the board tomorrow, but I'm thinking we don't need a board meeting next week. So you probably can lighten your calendar.
See you at lunch tomorrow! Patty
