This year the girls are getting Barbies and Barbie outfits, Chutes & Ladders or CandyLand, and pink or purple PlayDoh. The boys are getting balls, books, cars and PlayDoh. All the Head Start kids we're helping are getting winter coats, gloves, hats; pajamas, socks and other clothing.
We did not get a grant from Walmart or from Rotary this year, so stay tuned to how our finances look.
The girls basketball team at Englewood High School will be sorting, labeling and wrapping the bounty this year. We're glad for the help!
Thank you, Josh, for organizing the project this year, which we think is the 21st year of Frank's special focus on the littlest kids whose families need our help.
We are also thankful for Kristine at Walmart, who had collected all the clothing for the children and boxed it up for us.
This culminates with a pizza lunch Friday, Dec. 13, starting at 11 a.m. (volunteers doing set-up need to arrive at 10), at the Douglas H. Buck Community and Recreation Center, 2004 W. Powers Ave. in Littleton. All members are encouraged to attend, to help the preschoolers get their lunches and to talk with them during lunch. Santa is coming. . . . And Cheryl Saborsky will be back to play the piano for carols.
Ho, ho, ho, y'all. -- Patty
