Englewood Mayor Othoniel Sierra will be biking in the Woohoomanity Bike Ride – Fun for Humanity on Sept. 24. He’s partnering with our Rotary Club to raise money for our designated charity this fall – Movement 5280 – and other local causes.
Sierra is an avid long-range bike rider, who has advocated for many of the bike lane projects now popping up in Englewood.
In Mayor Sierra’s words: “The Englewood Rotary Club has been instrumental in assisting Englewood non-profits with funding and volunteers, providing scholarships to Englewood high school students and recognizing our residents and organizational leaders who are making a difference in their professions. I’m proud to ride in support of Englewood Rotary and the outstanding work their foundation does each year!”
Movement 5280 is a nonprofit organization in Englewood that supports youth and young adults who are at-risk or homeless. Check it out at movement5280.org. Here, a young man or woman can find the basics of support – food, clothing, a place to rest, to shower. Plus mental health support and assistance in finding jobs.
The Woohoo ride will draw Rotarian riders and volunteers from more than 25 clubs, mostly in metro Denver. Organized by the Rotary Club of Denver Southeast, and co-sponsored by Rotary’s District 5450, the program provides fund-raising technology to help participating clubs, like Englewood, to raise funds. To support the mayor, Englewood Rotary and Movement 5280, you may donate any amount via this link: https://www.bikesignup.com/mayorsierra-englewoodrotary. The first $1,000 will go to Movement 5280, and any additional funds will go to Rotary’s other beneficiaries.
The Rotary ride piggybacks on the Denver Century Ride, in which participants can ride 25, 50, 85 or 100 miles. Supporters donate to participating clubs.
