Happy Valentines Day, everyone!
And thank you for writing those Valentines for Veterans last week. Diane delivered them, and they're on their way to the VA hospital, where we expect they'll bring some cheer.
Nibbles & Sips, anyone?
We still have a few open seats for the Nibbles & Sips fund-raiser for Integrated Family Community Services (formerly Inter-Faith). It's Saturday, Feb. 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Denver Marriott Tech Center.
It's "free" because we already contributed $2,000! See Patty to sign up.
Let's Celebrate!
It's the 2018 District Celebration under the billing of:
Rotary Makes a Difference, Touches Every Heart and Serves Humanity,
and Rotary Means Business Fellowship
It's Friday and Saturday, May 19-20, at the Hyatt Denver Tech Center, 7800 E. Tufts Ave., Denver.
Our esteemed District Governor Abbas Rajabi wanted a more meaningful experience for this new version of a District Conference. It's shorter, it's cheaper, it's nearby.
And the Lunch Guest Speaker is none other than Dan Ritchie (formerly of DU and DCPA). His topic is "Bringing Consensus to a Country That's Divided" -- boy, that should be a good one. He'll focus on how the ideals of Rotary can lead to better understanding among people.
There's a menu of different attendance and price options on the District web site, www.rotary5450.org. For example, a Saturday daytime-only registration is only $75.
But on Saturday evening, there's Sam Adams as emcee. Sam is the former Rocky Mountain News sportswriter who spoke to our club a few years ago. Now he's a stand-up comic, and really funny.
I'd like to see a good club representation this year. It's nearby and it's affordable. Whooppee!
