Englewood Rotary was in Gueoul, Senegal, last summer via our member Judy Beggs and our newest member Katie Wright (in photograph). Our club provided grant money of $2,500, the Wheat Ridge club added $1,500, and that was matched by the District. That money, and a lot of dedication by Judy and Katie, produced training for teachers in English as a Second Language.

English is now required for admission to the university campus being built in Gueoul.

Also supporting this effort was Xcel Energy, which contributed 83 laptops. They went into the computer classroom   created in 2009 through a Global Grant we shared with the Saint Louis Rotary in Senegal.

When someone says, What does Rotary do? One answer is make college possible for young people in Senegal.
